Welcome services for Children

We believe that your child is a gift from God.

Their birth is a life changing event and deserves a spiritual celebration!

As your child begins their spiritual journey we have three slightly different services that help mark this event. Each are special occasions which  affirm the child within the grace of God and the primacy of God's love.

Thanksgivings

These are occasions of joyful thanksgiving where the child is blessed and prayers are made for the family. Such services can take place outside of a Sunday service and in a venue other than the church.

Baptisms

In baptism parents give thanks and the child is baptised with water. Parents promise to bring the child up to follow Jesus and in the life of the church. 

Dedications.

Parents promise to bring the child up to follow Jesus and join in the life of the church.  Unlike baptism water is not used but is reserved for a future possible occasion when the candidate affirms the way of Christ for themself.

We hold welcome services for children once a month on set dates.

Adult Baptisms 

These are wonderful occasions of public personal commitment to Christ. Such occasions, which take place in Sunday worship, are organised when appropriate at a mutually convenient date and after discussion and preparation with the minister.
