Young church meets during the 11 am Sunday morning service (10 am on 1st sunday of every month). The children join in with the first part of this service before going out to their appropriate Young Church group.
Pre-school Children
We run 2 groups for pre-school aged children. The Creche is for babies and children under 2 years. It has an adult:child ratio of 1:3. Sparklers is for children from 2 years up to school age. The adult:child ratio is 1:4. Children in this group are encouraged to take part in songs, stories and creative activities but are welcome to join the little ones in creche and play with the toys which are available.
These 2 groups take place in the meeting room at the rear of the main hall of The Hub. Children going to these groups should be escorted there by their parents and be collected from the leaders after the service. Parents are welcome to drop in to these groups at any time.
Primary-Aged Children
All Stars is for children in Reception class, Year 1 and Year 2 and Trailblazers is for older children from Years 3 through 6. Both these groups have an adult:child ratio of 1:8 but we try to ensure that there are at least 2 adults per group. These groups take place in The Ark, a short walk from The Hub. On leaving the service the children and leaders walk over to the Ark as a group. We are very conscious of the children’s safety and are very strict about them staying in the group and not running off ahead. At the end of the service they return to The Hub with the leaders.
We try to do a wide range of activities with these groups - a mixture of bible study, games, discussion and crafts. We currently use the ‘Light’ series from Scripture Union as our source material but also do long term team projects such as art work for the walls or a drama for Christmas.
