Sermon from May 30th 2010 - Giving

Braai ~Thank You!
On a chilly September Sunday, over 100 people met near the CYP building and enjoyed delicious South African barbecued food, cooked by some experts! Boerewors (meaty sausages), Sosaties (kebabs) and Broodjies (toasted sandwiches) were all on the menu. £397 was raised for the Street Child World Cup to be held in Durban next year. Why not visit www.streetchildworldcup.org for more info on this. We are hoping the money raised will go towards transporting some of the children over to South Africa, purchasing passports, etc which is really exciting for children who have not had an official identity before.

Open Gardens – Thank you
A huge thank you to the Open Gardens Committee for organising such a wonderful event yet again! £671 was raised over the weekend to go towards the landscaping of the new church building. Thank you also to all those who opened their beautiful gardens for the event and were so friendly and welcoming to those visiting.

16th May 2009 - Thank you
To everyone who took part in our two fundraisers in May:
The book sale raised £413 from the sale of nearly new books, unwanted presents and delicious teas!
The Auction of Promises raised about £4000, 10% of which will be going to the local charity CHASTE. We are particularly grateful to all those who donated promises so generously.

Groundbreaking Event - February 8th 2009

This was a special and exciting event which took place on our snow-covered church site in February. We were joined by friends from the community and from neighbouring churches to celebrate our past, present and future as we reached this significant milestone in the history of Cambourne Church.

Visit to Cambourne by The Archbishop of Canterbury – Friday 23rd January

We were delighted that Rt. Rev Dr Rowan Williams wanted to call in to Cambourne as part of his trip to Ely to celebrate 900 years of the Ely Diocese.
He was interested to hear the Cambourne story, offered encouragement as we look forward to the next stage in that story and prayed with us on the church land.

Carols on the Green 2008

Despite the blustery weather about 200 people gathered together to sing carols on Lower Cambourne Green on 20th December.
Our grateful thanks go to the Cambourne singing group – The Rhythm of life - for joining with us – it was a lovely evening.
